Rorate reports: "Over the weekend, the liturgical website Corpus Christi Watershed posted the following letter from the USCCB's Committee on Divine Worship regarding the recent discussions on the celebration of the Novus Ordo ad orientem."
Rorate concludes: "
At the same time we have the happy duty of pointing out that the easiest way right now to celebrate Mass ad orientem is by celebrating the Traditional Latin Mass. "

The net effect of dressing up anti-liturgy with faux traditionalist rubric and random TLM features is catastrophic. It serves only to confuse the real with the absurd, or worse, to encourage the assumption that the real and the absurd are merely interchangeable feats of stage management. Calling it "putting lipstick on the pig" is not sufficient. It is more a matter of lending power to the absurd anti-liturgy by pillaging the real liturgy -- rather the intention of Black Mass celebrants, wouldn't you say?
Anything that reduces the real and the absurd to mere points of view is post-modern subversion. Who needs that, other than clueless neo-Caths in the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Denial?
I say, give us more clown masses, pizza masses, Three Stooges masses, tap-dancing altar boy masses, wicca concelebrations, adulterous EMHCs, hip-hopping priests, the bonkier the better. Distribute the body and blood with t-shirt guns and seltzer bottles. Let the absurdity of it bloom and be evident to all.

Good points all.
