Angelou also emerged very late in life as an off-hand supporter of the right to bear arms. In a 2013 interview with Time magazine’s Belinda Luscombe, the ancient poetess talked Star Trek and death (“I’ll probably be writing when the Lord says, ‘Maya, Maya Angelou, it’s time’”), but she also recounted how she used a gun for home defense:[Hat tip to G.N.]Did you inherit your mother’s fondness for guns?
I like to have guns around. I don’t like to carry them.
Have you ever fired your weapon?
I was in my house in North Carolina. It was fall. I heard someone walking on the leaves. And somebody actually turned the knob. So I said, “Stand four feet back because I’m going to shoot now!” Boom! Boom! The police came by and said, “Ms. Angelou, the shots came from inside the house.” I said, “Well, I don’t know how that happened.”

I'm under a level 5 threat of death ( it's likely he won't return with a glock as promised) for having beaten in a fight on the curb a ghetto criminal who broke in our house. I sleep with motion detectors housewide and a tactical shotgun next to the bed. Shotguns are worse for the home invader and safer on your neighbors because the new self defense rounds wreck him but are slowed tremendously by wall board. 44 magnums could penetrate your wall if you miss and take out a passing driver in a car etc. Shotguns are your friend and your neighbor's. Observe your state's protocols in self defense. The following is not to protect material things but if you sense danger to your life.
Practice machine gun like left jabs until you can do a hundred rapidly in succession. This will allow you to throw five in rapid succession to his head on the street then grab behind his lead left knee after the fifth...pick up his lead leg at the knee....inner circle his back foot with you lead leg...push his chest with your left...he hits the sidewalk hard...punch him to knockout with both hands. Death is possible...check with your lawyer for your state laws on self defense.
She was also "pro-life," at least to the extent that she refused to abort the child she had when she became pregnant out of wedlock as a young girl in Harlem.
You'll never see these sorts of things discussed in the mainstream media.
