Cardinal Bergoglio: "Interviews are not my forte"

Phil Lawler, "Guess who thinks Pope Francis shouldn't give so many interviews?" (CatholicCulture.org, January 23, 2015):
"Nearly two years into his pontificate, with a whole series of puzzling and/or damaging statements on the record, it is not unreasonable to conclude that Cardinal Bergoglio was right [when he once said] interviews are not his forte."
Ya think???

I think Francis is easy to understand. That loopy quasi-Catholic stuff he says? He means it all. Every word. What's the problem?

So the way I look at it is that as long as his lips are flapping, I know where he is coming from, and where he may be going next. Were he to zip it, he would be less scrutable, and therefore more concerning.** All this Harry G Frankfurt BS about him being sorely misunderstood by the secularist press?? -- stick it in your Grub Street cowboy hat and wear it.

**I say "concerning" instead of the proper word, "dangerous," out of my earnest desire not to offend the Grub Streeters and their loyal readers.
