As you know for my taste your path these days points to much into the past. The type of church you guys admire did not much to prevent the catholic european heartland from falling pray to fascism. Vatican II was also a reaction to that fact. It is sad to see how negative and pessimistic the 'anti Vatican I'I catholics particular here in the US are. But hey to each his own.
