Duelling musical traditions

As Fr. Z says: You decide, discuss, all of you who have the "courage to enter the song"!

Gather us in, the eggs and the bacon
Gather us in, the pancakes and ham
Make us to be a well balanced breakfast
Topped off with orange juice poured right from the can!

Beefy,

Brilliant! PP, you should think of bringing back some of the Garton-Zavesky's parodies again.

Philip,

While the Ortiz is beautiful, the camera angles and all the bobbing and weaving do make one seasick.

My wife, seeing Haugen's piece wanted to know why there weren't more pictures representing the words of the song.

George,

Perhaps I'll try to write some new parody?

Cheers,

Chris

Gather us in represents the Assembly Theology of Louis Bouyer and the boys because sacrum facere is the formula that makes us Holy , not the Eucharist; Work of Human Hands p.330

Given that revolution, it is right and just to see Gather us in as particularly apt for The Assembly Theology of the modernists for it is an Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, Dadaism Song and Dance of Denial which denies the Sacrifice of Propitiation that the proddies found so irksome and so just think of Gather us... and other such soul-tranquilising songs as part of the larger Newchurch project of phagocytising protestantism (Franco Bellgrandi's great word-pairing).

Me? I prefer The Beatles over this bullshit.

Leave us to drink the wine of delusion,
We'll have our bread, and we'll eat it too,
Syncretistic'ly we'll have a fusion
of all religions, which will meet in you.

How about a full-blown make-over of "Gather us in"? It would be awesome!
