Palm Sunday

How fickle we sons of Adam and daughters of Eve: "Hosanna! Hosanna!" one week. "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!" the next.

An observation we don't see every day, but good. I just saw Gibson's "The Passion" again this year, and the cries of the Jews for Jesus' crucifixion hit home powerfully. The close juxtaposition of that with the "triumphal entry" of Jesus into Jerusalem not long beforehand speaks volumes.

Perhaps I'm not a political scientist, but I think that what Holy Week demonstrates in purely human terms is that the masses follow whatever stirs them, and that they, like the individual leaders (Pilate, Herod) have little regard for that which is true. Accordingly, we explain modern marketing, but also modern politics.

Supernaturally, perhaps, we see how God brings good out of evil.

We also see how a man is not coterminal with his office, that Hell is not empty, and that love of God and neighbor often require suffering.

Happy Spy Wednesday.
