As caricatured as this is, it's still surprising how close to home it strikes. Most mainstream Catholics have not read most, if any, of the Vatican II documents, but they display a disproportionate confidence of conviction about what Vatican II "means" for contemporary life in the church. The whole thing is rather dreadful.
