Deacon Keith Fournier, "Homosexual Equivalency Activism Masquerading as Compassion" (Catholic Online, February 24, 2010): "Why would any Catholic parish support organizations which work directly against the Church and the truth she proclaims?" ...
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Catholic Online) - On Friday, February 5, 2010, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops acting through Cardinal Francis George, O.M.I, the archbishop of Chicago and president of the Conference, issued a strong repudiation of "New Ways Ministry." The group is comprised of people who openly dissent from the clear teaching of the Catholic Church concerning the immorality of homosexual practice....[Hat tip to J.M.]

Looks like the choice lies between NARTH, who believe that homosexuals "choose" their own sex rather than the other in order the thwart God's design that sex should transmit life, on the one hand, and New Ways Ministry on the other.
It's all about choice, ain't it. Is there any question here about who's right?
It is not ALL about choice -- despite the false claim of NARTH that sexual orientation is a choice. On the other hand, the choice to be sexually active or to have a sexual relationship is a choice that most people respect.
Hell, it's ALL about choice. Even giving up the right to choose is a choice. Even giving yourself over to sodomite bondage of the will is a damn choice.
The picture you posted is of a priest in my diocese. Ouch.
Mr. Miole,
It's the picture posted on the original, linked website.
I'm sorry to hear this.
God bless,
P
Sexual orientation is sodomite bondage of the will? This is actually Manichean. It is like saying the heterosexual orientation is the result of that apple Eve ate. No one chooses their sexual orientation, pace NARTH. Healthy people thank God for the gift of sexuality.
Dr. Blosser,
Here's the article coming from our local liberal rag:

If the link doesn't work, Google 'Metro Jon Pedigo'
I'm sorry as well. But don't worry, we have a wave of JPII generation men in our seminary at the moment.
More "encouragement by example"? Perverts and boneheads are still the predominant voices of the Church in many, if not most, diocese, and all the cheerleading about what one bishop or another said or did does not offset that scandalous fact.
Hello, Fr. O'Leary. If I may respond, whatever DH may have meant, how is the view that we have some choice in the formation of our dispositions "Manichean"?
Further, how does your cheery statement that "Healthy people thank God for the gift of sexuality" avoid the deterministic fatalism of "I can't help my inclination to sodomize 15-year-old boys, so I just thank God for his 'gift' of my ephebophilic sexual orientation -- God just made me that way"?
Please, Father: think Catholic and get serious! Even Luther, who used the term "Bondage of the Will" in his treatise by that name, did not believe on that account that human beings were deprived of the faculty of free choice, but rather that they, by their free choices, could submit their wills to the servitude of bondage to sin.
Sexual orientation, Fr., is a purely modern construct, and not a defining reality, or celibacy, for one, would be a laugh. I am oriented thus, therefore I am... WHat a crock. Our choices define us, and not our "orientations." Any other gospel is damning in its oppressiveness.
Sexual orientation is sodomite bondage of the will?
No, it isn't -- rather, "homosexual" orientation is sodomite bondage of the will unless it is resisted and healed through being brought into subjection under Christ.
This is actually Manichean.
You don't know what "Manichean" means.
It is like saying the heterosexual orientation is the result of that apple Eve ate.
Homosexuality results from Adam and Eve's taking the forbidden fruit. "Heterosexuality," that is, normal and natural sexual orientation and inclination, was created by God.
No one chooses their sexual orientation, pace NARTH.
I know several people who chose a homosexual "orientation," but later chose to return to natural sexuality.
Healthy people thank God for the gift of sexuality.
No, they only do that if their sexuality is natural. No psychologically and spiritually healthy person gives thanks to Go for a perverted sexuality. The Holy Spirit pronounces a curse upon those who, like you, call evil good and good evil.
