Just a note to thank all of you for your kind thoughts and prayers for my father, Eugene (age 91), who passed from this life peacefully in his sleep last Sunday morning at 9:17am as my daughter and I were taking a turn sitting with him. We had several good days of sharing happy reminiscences, praying together, and saying our goodbyes before he slipped out of consciousness two days before his death. During those days, he was surrounded by family and friends, several groups of which came by not only to visit but to sing favorite hymns for him. Though there were difficult moments, as when he struggled for breath in his fluid-filled lungs before his medication could be adjusted to allow more comfortable breathing, it was, all-in-all, the kind of death for which one could readily hope for himself -– to be surrounded by loved ones, and happily resigned to meet his Maker.
The funeral was last Monday.
Thanks again for your many expressions of thoughtfulness and prayers.
