  1. Short and excellent. Christ tells the woman caught in adultery..." go and sin no more". He assumes she can do that and without Him
"accompanying" her. That "accompanying" stuff is itself going to lead to trouble. Christ admonished the Samaritan woman at the well and didn't accompany her anywhere...ditto the woman caught in adultery. Give it twenty years....law suits again. This time priests accompanying wives...alienation of affection suits. Wait for it........

  2. These two (there are more) pieces by Zippy ought be read for it is the case that when it comes to pastoral mercy involving mortal sins, there is nothing new under the sun:

    https://zippycatholic.wordpress.com/2015/01/21/the-grand-inquisitor-shows-pastoral-mercy-to-usurers/

Now to be sure, gray usurious businessmen in gray suits don't generate a storm of protest when they get pastoral mercy whereas adulterers being extended pastoral mercy do but that is because we are jake with usury (It is the american way of life) whereas we are all Jeremias when is comes to sinful sex.
