Pete Baklinski, "Vatican, World Bank partner to launch Year of Mercy with St. Peter’s ‘climate change’ light show" (LiveSiteNews, December 4, 2015):
ROME, December 4, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) -- The Catholic Church, founded to shed the light of Christ on the world, has quite literally invited the world to shed its light on her. On December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception as well as the opening of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, Pope Francis has allowed climate-change partisans and population-control advocates to project a light show onto the façade and cupola of Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome — the most important church in the Catholic world — so as to “inspire change around the climate crisis.”So this is what the bottom line of the Gospel message has come to?
The show titled “Illuminating Our Common Home” will project onto St. Peter’s “images of our shared natural world” in order to “educate and inspire change around the climate crisis across generations, cultures, languages, religions and class,” states a press release about the event put out by one of the sponsors.

ReplyDeleteFiat Lux, eh? --> “And they changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of the image of a corruptible man, and of birds, and of fourfooted beasts, and of creeping things. Wherefore God gave them up to the desires of their heart, unto uncleanness, to dishonour their own bodies among themselves. Who changed the truth of God into a lie; and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen” (Rom 1:23-25).
ReplyDeleteTo appreciate the 'Must...Not...Get...Alarmed" mindset of our apologists, you ought to check out this humdinger from Father Dwight:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.patheos.com/blogs/standingonmyhead/2015/12/st-peters-magic-lantern-show.html
His comments are classic shaming: First he writes, "OK. I get it. The names of these organizations are deep, dark and mysterious so it must be all bad." AFTER quoting a piece that says nothing of the sort but instead carefully explains the names and backgrounds!
THEN he invokes Scalia's observation that the peacock is actually a Christ symbol... yes, she goes there... The he talks about the reported projection of Kali (are we in CS Lewis 'Last Battle') with these Biden-worthy comments: "Really? I think that needs to be confirmed. If it really happened, how dumb is that? It wasn’t ecumenical. It wasn’t good for Catholics. Heck, it wasn’t even good for Hindus."
If this is typical of our CONSERVATIVE priests...! Fr. Dwight is correct, there is no need to talk of conspiracy, just disaster. His final verdict is one I am increasingly thinking will apply to Francis' weigh: "not so much that it was so bad in itself, (although the Kali thing is pretty awful) but that it was a missed opportunity."
Leave the novus ordo...Run don't walk
