"Californian ecclesiastical schizophrenics"

Oh no! Now Guy Noir is threatening to knock back his regular doses of Prozac with bourbon! If our title (Guy Noir's words) is any indication, you can anticipate the angst:

Here is what seems to have sent him over the top: Michael O'Loughlin, "Pope Francis sends 'social justice' bishop to San Diego" (Crux, March 2, 2015):
“We are called to see the issues of abortion and poverty, marriage and immigrant rights, euthanasia and war, religious liberty and restorative justice, not as competing alternatives often set within a partisan framework, but as a complementary continuum of life and dignity,” he [Robert W. McElroy, the newly-appointed bishop of San Diego] wrote in America magazine in October 2013.
Noir writes:
There is Cardileone, alone, in San Francisco. And now there is this. I do not think The Remnant could have written anything more concisely on point. The candor at least is nice. Coming after the canonization of Pope John, the beatification of Romero, and the popularization of Kasper, I can't wait to read how Paul Kengor manages to claim that all of our misappraisals stem from category mistakes. Remember the essential truth claim at stake: Pope Francis is essentially a conservative! (Pay no attention to the culture warriors, liturgists, and apologists left behind to die at Midway. They're the unavoidable collateral damage form the latest of Aggiornamento Surge.... St. John XIII, pray for us. Meanwhile, Prozac? I think I may need to re-establish my pipeline to the local Jim Beam wholesaler...)

This can seem confusing but is this writer wrong to think that he seems to be saying that the killing of a child in a mother's womb is no more or less consequential than the right of a man from Grenada to illegally invade America and establish the 2nd Baptist Church of Grenada in Seattle, Washington and offer to perform fabulous marriages of sodomites in exchange for food stamps and sue these United States for reparations because some Marines took a dump in one of the sand traps on his Uncle's Grenada Greens Golf Center and Pig Emporium during Ronald Reagan's (PBUH) war of liberation and/or distraction from the attack on the Marine Barracks in Lebanon that happened about two days before ?

Raider Fan is exhibit #1 in what happens to Catholics who are flummoxed by all that is happening.

The key to setting in context all of this strum und drang is to consider whether all of this chaos and confusion is inspirationally intentional or pedantically planned?

From Rod Dreher, this seemed well-put:

To clarify, I am certainly not saying that the establishment Islamic voices condemning ISIS do not speak for anybody. Plainly they do. My point is simply that we must also look beyond institutions, at what’s happening on the streets. To use a Christian example, I believe that what the leftie Catholics in San Francisco are demanding of their archbishop is not really Catholicism. Unlike Islam, Catholicism has a central authority that defines what it means to be Catholic. This is nice in theory, but in practice, it is much messier. But if the dissenters’ claim of Catholicism is, or becomes, the dominant expression of Catholicism in the Bay Area, and it is unchallenged, or effectively unchallenged, then “Catholicism in the Bay Area,” in whatever heretical form, becomes “what Catholics in the Bay Area do.” Do you see what I mean? The archbishop can denounce it as false Catholicism all he wants, and he may be 100 percent, you-can-look-it-up correct, but if the facts on the ground say otherwise, there’s going to be a serious and profoundly important struggle.

  4. Mr Dreher is way off here. There is a 13 + century praxis of Mahometanism derived from imitation of the putatively perfect man, Mahomet, who was a psychotic murdering pederast whereas Jesus was not one of those things but, rathr,, the King of Peace.

ISIS, it can be written, is the pluperfect example of Mahomet in that they imitate him and they actualise the putative commands of Allah as recorded in that most boring book, inspired by the Beast, The Koran..

While it is true that there is some hope attached to the Shia, the SUNNI - the VAST majority of Mahomet's sons - are normative and they have Al Hazar University as the Fake See of their false religion.

Mr Dreher also fails to account for the various stages of Jihad and so, like far too many who see Mahometanism as essentially the same as Christianity even if it be admitted that false faith contains men rather grumpier than christian fundamentals or Christian liberals.

Now if Christian liberals (oxymoron) began to murder their enemies...
