The comments to the cardinal do not really dispel a thing. We need witness of deeds AND words, and we want people to CONVERT, not simply "come with us." Really, the approach of the Holy Father, his choice of themes, words, and audiences, is disconcerting. If he does not want to sound Catholic, he is succeeding. In the age of the Internet, finally, thw wider world can identify the bland phrasings of post-conciliarism for what they are.
ReplyDeleteW.C. Fields was indebted to a beautiful blonde:
ReplyDeleteI was in love with a beautiful blonde once, dear. She drove me to drink. That’s the one thing I’m so indebted to her for
For the same reason, I am indebted to Pope Francis.
As David Furnish said to Elton John; Bottom’s up

ReplyDeleteYes, here we go again and I almost pity the Girondists in the Catholic Conservative Collective, especially the well-read Baron of The Brick By Brick Bund; how can they keep claiming that he is not saying what he is clearly saying?
IANS,
ReplyDeleteThe version of Fields I heard was this: "A woman drove me to drink, and I haven't had the decency to thank her for it."
Same thought.
IANS:
ReplyDeleteLOL, yes. How many words does it take to explain to everyone that the words the Pope uses don't mean what the words the Pope uses mean? LIberals think everything is a verbal construct, but in this case, I wish I could identify some sort of verbal constructs in these interviews. They make JPIIs "Crossing the Threshold of Hope" look by comparison like the most concise set of papal satements, and that is a feat.

ReplyDeletewhat did the pope really say ;-}
Dear Doc. Near the end of his life, the nominal Catholic was spotted in his Hospital Room reading the Bible:
ReplyDeleteFields, you - reading the Bible?
Looking for a loophole and every time i read his words I hear his voice.
I loved him
