The gaying of America: too late to stop?

A great and growing evil smolders on the horizon. The world of all that is light and good and true is rapidly falling into the shadow of oppressive darkness. Men have exchanged the truth of God for lies, and repressed the truth in iniquitous perversions in high places. It is now affecting our entire political, popular, and educational culture. One cannot expect to escape the effects of this evil by self-isolation or even identification with a counter-culture of virtue. The darkness is coming upon us all.

The term goetia refers, quite apart from its Greek etymology, to the unmaking of nature that is commonly called "perversion." To call evil "good"; to seek to normalize and call "natural" what is gravely distorted and un-natural, to embolden the weakness of capitulation to vice by undergirding it with the public legitimation of civil rights -- all of this is goetia.

We can expect over the next months and years a rapid acceleration of legal legitimation of perversions and the increasingly heavy hand of state-sanctioned repression against traditional Judeo-Christian family values -- a repression, in the final analysis of what we can't not know: that our society is increasingly perverting the natural order and committing collective moral suicide as a nation and a people.

We can expect this to happen despite the fact that those who promote such perversion haven't even a shred of justification in legal or moral precedent, logic or natural law. No doubt the Hollywood Sodomites are winning -- they and their useful idiots in positions of power. This does not make them right. Their 'case' lies in scoffing derision of their opponents, not in evidence or argument.

Much that once was -- what was good and true and beautiful -- is now rapidly being forgotten. Few now live who remember it. The greater part of generations now living are rapidly falling into the world of shadows and oblivion.

Nothing in this declaration stems from fear or is intended to provoke fear. Perfect love and light and truth casts out all fear. We are an Easter People who know that our Lamb has already conquered: Vicit agnus noster, eum sequamur! But we must not delude ourselves about our era being a "Springtime" of hope for our American or Western world. We have entered into a new Dark Ages. The barbarians are already at the gates; and they are on the inside.

Fear nothing but the judgment of God. Be confident. Do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God.

Someone made this point in another recent blog article, but it is a good point and bears repeating.

You cannot convince anyone that something is evil if you are consumed with qualifying every statement you make about it with nicey-nice remarks about individuals who practice, defend and seek to advance the cause of that evil something. You will sound like a mincing, pussyfooting fop, and serious people will not pay attention to you.

Church leaders speaking about homosexuality inevitably sound like mincing, pussyfooting fops, and serious people do not pay attention to them.

Perhaps they are the types who shrink from confrontation in general. Most of the priests I know are. The question is why.

Well, for one thing, careers within diocesan hierarchies are not advanced by doctrinal candor. The unofficial mission statement of the USCCB is to be non-confrontational in all things.

For another, I fear that, quite often, a good many of their friends and colleagues are homosexuals, and "feelings" supercede faith.

Finally, one of the fruits of V2's embrace of modern democracy and its cultural institutions is that the Church continues to slowly absorb the protestant notion of private judgment. Protestantism in the days of Luther and Calvin offered a strong doctrinal basis in opposition to that of Catholicism. But their doctrinal offerings were doomed, for it is the nature of private judgment to defer all things to the conscience of the individual. American democracy dovetails nicely with the private judgment of protestantism, and is gently corrosive of any authority grounded in church doctrine. With Catholicism, of course, the corrosive process has gone much more slowly. But it is ongoing, and Church leaders, nourished by the ideas of nouvelle theologians who controlled the outcome of V2, and who were preoccupied with "razing the bastions" and "throwing open the windows," are not capable of providing much of a bulwark against it.

  3. You write, "Their 'case' lies in scoffing derision of their opponents, not in evidence or argument."

Spot on! C.S.Lewis remarked 70 years ago that in his day arguments were never challenged as 'wrong', but dismissed as 'old-fashioned', or 'bigoted'.

    God bless!

  4. Every Jesuit College and University no longer professes the truth about the personal and relational essence of the human person, who from the moment of conception, has been created in The Image of God, equal in Dignity, while being complementary as male or female, to live in relationship as husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters...to reflect Love, but rather, professes that we have been created heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, transexual, polysexual..., to live in relationship as objects of sexual desire, in direct conflict with with God's own
Commandment regarding lust and the sin of adultery, and yet, they are allowed to remain within Christ's
Church physically, although they have left His Church
spiritually, and cause chaos and confusion while leading many astray. You cannot just blame Hollywood.
