Make sure to read the fine print (the music choices are especially interesting). St. James Cathedral, of course, is one of Chicago's oldest Episcopal churches. Does it go without saying that this could never happen at a Catholic cathedral?
Update: Just the latest examples:
- St. Cecilia in Boston, with archdiocesan approval!
- Catholic Archdiocese of Westminster's Soho Masses for homosexuals, with Archbishop Vincent Nichols' support.
- Archbishop Vincent Nichols' stalwart stand on the future of gay unions (and women priests) in the Catholic Church: "WHO KNOWS what's down the road?"
- Pride Mass in London.
Not really, or maybe your question was meant to be ironic.

Things are hardly much better in many parts of the Catholic Church in the West. In addition to the recent row in Boston, and the ongoing horrors at Most Holy Redeemer, San Francisco, some news from across the Atlantic... I must say that your writings really disgust me. You use religion and the bible as a sword for intolerance, judgment, and hate. I bet you are a homosexual yourself. Leave the judging to the man upstairs.
ReplyDeleteLet me guess:
ReplyDeleteBorn That Way and Girls Just Want to Have Fun?
"Ineffable"
ReplyDelete"intolerance, judgment, and hate"
ReplyDeleteExcellent buzz words. Just add 'diversity' and 'dignity' to the mix -- smells like you've already go the bitters covered -- and we'll have the AmChurch's fizzy house cocktail. Cheers!
I must say your writings make me laugh, in a judgmental sort of way; after all we were created with reason that makes judgments of things possible. Just today I made a judgment about my lunch and how good it tasted. And I made another judgment about how wrong abortion is and wondered why some ignoramus thought I should not judge others for their actions.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
ReplyDeleteWas gentle J-e-s-u-s never "intolerant, judgmental, or hateful"?
Try this on for size: "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?" (Mat. 23.33)
Was he only about "unity," "peace," and "harmony"?
Try this: "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father ... And a man's foes shall be they of his own household." (Mat 10.34-36):
Funny, I watched that Hard Talk interview and never noticed that statement: Who knows what's down the road? It puts the rest of the interview in a new perspective, and shows Nichols to be wiser and more liberal than I thought.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
ReplyDeleteAh ... one one of those reactionary RIGHT-thinking "liberals," eh?
So what makes you now think that Nichols is "wiser" than you thought? The fact that he AGREES WITH YOU?
How vapid!
Nichols is in touch, which is more than can be said for most of them.
ReplyDelete"In touch," like Nancy Pelosi is "in touch" with her San Francisco constituency?
ReplyDeleteHere's my question and it's a serious one:
ReplyDeleteHow come anyone who disagrees with homosexuals is automatically accused of being a homosexual him or herself?
Cf. Anonymous @ 5:01 p.m.
Excellent question. Maybe because ad hominems are the stock in trade of the LGBT crowd whenever it can't think of a decent argument? (Which is almost always) ...
