Don't worry folks, it's all part of the counter-syllabus

I don't know why anyone is denying that they are not accusing those in the CCHD as pro-abortion. I am. I believe that they are the fifth column.

It is obviously just a question of time until most of you guys depart for your own 'perfect' version of an American Catholic Church - oh well some people will always prefer to be negative and unpleasant. It certainly does not require much wits to tear down - combine that with a cast of personal conflicted characters - religious journeymen and women really and you get the kind of consistent negativity witnessed around catholic webamerica .
I do not think that such people are the kind of bedrock upon which one could build any sustainable church.

There is no American Catholic Church, unless you mean what is euphamistically called "AmChurch" -- the thing that thrives on dissent, represented by the Call to Action, America, Commonweal and U.S. Catholic magazines, National Catholic Reporter, etc. And then the only ideal that exists of that church is the one fermenting in the overheated minds of such dissenters as Joan Chittister, Fr. Richard McBrien, and quasi-pagans like Richard Rohr.

On the other hand, there does exist the Catholic Church in America, just as it exists in other parts of the world, as part of the one Catholic, Universal Church. And for that Church there is only one ideal, and that is not yours or mine but the ideal entrusted to Mother Church by her Lord. Hence, when we understand what is handed down to us by the Church and complain about those points where Catholic practices and beliefs here-and-there today may be at odds with what is handed down, that is not a matter of complaining that the Church in America does not conform to our ideals -- qua our ideals; but only to note their failure to measure up to our Lord's ideals as entrusted to the Church. The Church is not a wax nose.

Who is 'we'?
The oldest trick in the book - claiming to know what is best.

America, NCR etc are very much part of the Catholic Church - you do not have to love what thwy work for - but at least let the Lord sort this out. In my view a Joan Chittister very much does the Lords work - many voices are needed in this complex world - hers very much included.
But hey you keep attempting to tear down - I doubt you will reap as many heavenly rewards as you envision - not that i would know of course. A bit of kindness towards fellow Catholics IMHO represents the primary message of our religion much better than this bathing in constant negativity and look at me I have it all figured out.
