My understanding is that this prayer was initially published with permission for lay use outside of formal exorcisms, which were reserved for priests with requisite faculties and permission from the local ordinary. Further, my understanding is that this prayer, although thus reserved in its public use strictly for exorcisms performed by priests with proper faculties and permission, may still be read privately by the lay faithful for their edification and benefit,

If I am mistaken in this assumption, and this prayer should not even be known to the laity, much less even read privately, although that would strike me is improbable in the extreme given its powerful and edifying qualities, I am most willing to be humbly instructed.Pertinacious Papisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03213911570586726075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6312447.post-87067562581039747152012-07-21T23:03:21.612-04:002012-07-21T23:03:21.612-04:00Please be advised that the CDF has clarified that ...Please be advised that the CDF has clarified that this pray should not be used by laity and only by priests given the proper faculty.
http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_19850924_exorcism_en.htmlPilgrim Padrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14704217370606494336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6312447.post-10549269353723364492012-07-21T22:20:54.582-04:002012-07-21T22:20:54.582-04:00Thanks for your interest in spiritual warfare. I just thought you should know, that although many so-called "sources" claim this Leonine Exorcism can be said by anyone, official sources, such as the Roman Ritual, say that this prayer is reserved to the bishop and any priest given the faculty by his ordinary. Fr. Gabriele Amorth in his book "An Exorcist Tells His Story" (Ignatius Press 1999) reminds folks that this prayer is still reserved to the bishop and priests given the proper faculty.Pilgrim Padrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14704217370606494336noreply@blogger.com
